2011-05：U.S. Grains Council and Huaxia Dairy Farm to host their 2nd annual seminar on Dairy livestock management.

In recent years, Dairy farming has changed shape dramatically in China. The concept of animal husbandry has developed rapidly, health and safety standards are increasing, and more and more farmers are choosing to invest in large scale, high tech equipment. However, to maximize the benefits of such investments, it is absolutely essential for farmers to adopt smart and modern farm management policies, processes and techniques. This is the combination of modern dairy farming that we have been pioneering at Hua Xia Dairy Farm and that we wish to share with a wider audience.
Therefore, for the second year running the U.S. Grains Council’s Beijing office have decided to host a seminar on Dairy livestock management. The council has invited many professors from prestigious universities in the USA, including Cornell University, as well as leading Chinese experts in the field to come together this June. The seminar will introduce many other farmers and people working in the Dairy Industry to modern farming management techniques, with the hope of improving standards further across China.

2011-05： Dairy Conference: Hua Xia Dairy Farm will be sponsoring a major dairy conference in Beijing on June 15th and 16th. More than 200 attendees from all over China will come for training and knowledge sharing on the issue of large scale dairy farm management. Hua Xia Dairy Farm is organizing the training in conjunction with illustrious professors from Cornell University, the University of Pennsylvania and The US Grains Council.

2011-05： Farm Visits: During April and May, we had visits from student groups from Texas and closer to home, from The Family Learning House, Beijing and The British School of Beijing. The British School Year 3 students were celebrating “Earth Day”, so made sure that they went away with lots more knowledge about one kind of farming!

2011-05： Farm No 4 : Plans for the construction of Hua Xia Dairy Farm Phase 4 are now nearing completion. This satellite farm will be located 15 minutes away from our main site and will have milking facilities for 3000 cows as well as modern barns and parlours. Construction will be under way shortly with completion expected in late 2012.

2011-05： Births on the Increase: Hua Xia dairy Farm now houses over 7000 cows. Summer and? Autumn are naturally good times for cows to give birth as can be seen from the numbers of calf births expected on the farm over the coming months:

2011-05： US Interns : Five interns from some of the top US veterinary universities, including Cornell University, will arrive at Hua Xia Dairy Farm on June 4th to begin 3 months of work experience in China!? One of their projects will be helping to train local farmers in advanced farming techniques, as part of our CSR program. More news on their experiences in next month’s update!
