In accordance with the values described above, we try our best to operate in a sustainable manner so that our work may continue for many generations to come. Our CSR programme aims to create positive socio-economic feedback into the local community. We are bound to improving the lives of local, and often disadvantaged, farmers through training programmes. We help to equip them with the necessary skills to become self sufficient by educating them in advanced farming methods. Thus far, this has met with great

success, with some farmers increasing productivity by over 200%. As described above, we continuously work to educate dairy farmers across all of China, in hi-tech and professional dairy farming practices. Our CSR programme also tackles the much publicized issue of environmental degradation within the dairy industry. Here at Hua Xia we understand that we have a moral responsibility to counter the adverse effects that we have on the environment.

This is why we take a proactive approach to sustainable management by implementing resource conserving and environmentally sound practices. During 2010-2011, we have been working on 2 innovative eco-projects: our methane gas digester- one of China’s largest- is now in testing stages! It is operating at about 50% capacity and we expect it to be fully functioning in the coming months when we can begin to generate electricity and earn carbon credits. Manure which is not used by the digester goes into our earthworm breeding project. Having grown in size from 5mu in April 2010 to 30mu today we are continuing to grow this initiative. After the earthworms have been harvested, every two years, the remaining wormed manure is a perfect fertilizer for young tree sprouts!
